Our sweet little feline of the past 13 years was put to sleep today. As difficult as it was to make that decision, it was the right thing to do and the right time to do it. She was not herself, and life was no longer kind to her. We made the decision this morning, called the local veterinary clinic, and (after they had done their part) picked her up in the afternoon. The whole family got to say some final goodbyes and we buried her in our backyard.
I find it interesting that I’ve been as emotional as I have been. As the tough guy “Dad” character, I was clearly the one who needed to take care of the ‘dirty work’, if you will, but I wasn’t expecting to be fighting back tears. I guess I’m not cut out for this sort of thing.
Anyhow, we are happy to have had such a wonderful (and pretty!) cat for the past 13 years. She will be missed…
